SELF DRIVE
Self drive is the best way to reach Belum at your own paceand convenience. Your trip will be more flexible and enjoyable.
From Kuala Lumpur – Royal Belum is situated approximately 400 km from Kuala Lumpur (roughly about 5 to 6 hour’s drive). Use the North-South Highway to Ipoh. Head north towards Kuala Kangsar, Sauk, Lenggong and Gerik. Then enter the East-West Highway until you will see a signboard which will indicate the direction to the Banding Island Public Jetty where the boats are provided to get to the resorts.
*Gerik is the last location to fill up your car petrol since there will be no more available petrol stations along the East-West Highway.
From Pulau Pinang – Royal Belum is situated approximately 250 km from Pulau Pinang (about 3 hour’s drive). Head south towards Kuala Kangsar and Gerik and then enter the East-West Highway until you will see a signboard which will indicate the direction to the Banding Island Public Jetty where the boats are provided to get to the resorts.
From Ipoh – Royal Belum is situated approximately 180 km from Ipoh (about 2 ½ hour’s drive). Head north towards Kuala Kangsar and Gerik and then enter the East-West Highway until you will see a signboard which will indicate the direction to the Banding Island Public Jetty where the boats are provided to get to the resorts.
From Kelantan – Royal Belum is situated approximately 180 km from Kelantan (about 3 hour’s drive). Use the East-West Highway until you will see a signboard which will indicate the direction to the Banding Island Public Jetty where the boats are provided to get to the resorts.
TRAVEL BY TRAIN
Travelling to Belum by train can be the most adventurous way to get to the state park. However, the trains will only reach the Ipoh train station. Therefore, you will need to get a bus ride from the Ipoh bus station to Pulau Banding. Another alternative is to take the train to Kuala Kangsar (a few more stops after Ipoh train station) and take a bus from there. Since the busses do not depart on frequent timetable, please make arrangements to the journey early.
TRAVEL BY BUS
There are a few daily busses which depart from Hentian Duta bus station in Kuala Lumpur that go all the way to Gerik bus station, a 40 km taxi drive away from Pulau Banding; gateway to Belum State Park.
*The bus operators sometimes may change the routes, thus there is no guarantee that the bus will take you all the way to Belum; you might need to rely on taxi at certain parts
